Here’s our top 10 tips for planning a wedding and keeping it simple!
Decide on a date, the more time you have to plan the more choices you'll have. If you are planning way in advance, book your venue and the main suppliers and then get on with your life. Don't let the wedding take over every waking hour.
So, have you always dreamt of a traditional church wedding, a ceremony on a white sandy beach or taking your vows whilst scuba diving in warm ocean waters? Choosing your location will help you decide on numbers for your wedding as the venue will dictate.
Unless you have won the lottery or have very generous parents, cost will almost certainly determine where you get married. People spend thousands of pounds on weddings these days but you don't have to, look at it as a challenge and be creative with your planning. Your big day will still be amazing whatever the amount you spend and you'll feel so much better after the wedding if you haven't gone into debt. Set a budget and stick to it.
It really is YOUR wedding so don't feel pressured into which guests to invite, choose the guests that are special to you and your partner, friends and family you want to celebrate your big day with you.
Send your invitations with style! If you’re planning well ahead you may want to send save-the-date cards so your friends and family can pop the date in their diaries. Some stationery companies will address your invitations and RSVP’s and post them out for you (at Premurosa we also include a gift and general loveliness) so all you have to do is wait for the all-important responses. Another job done!
Choosing 'the dress' and wedding attire is exciting and one of the nicest parts of wedding planning so enjoy it! Give yourself plenty of time, look through magazines for inspiration and try on various styles. When you go shopping, take someone with you who'll give you an honest opinion and if you're unsure, it's not the dress for you! Your venue and wedding date may also contribute to the decision and what type of dress you choose.
What colours will you choose for your wedding? Bridesmaids, ushers, flowers.... again, the seasons will help you decide. You may want to create drama or you may want pretty pastels and a romantic theme?
These days we have a choice as to what we want to say to each other so make your vows really personal and write them from the heart imagining you're the only two in the room. Your guests will be touched by your honesty and commitment.
Your suppliers are of course all important, the cake has to be stunning and taste delicious and your flowers have to be beautiful and fragrant, however, you'll look at your photographs for years to come so choosing a photographer is very important as is finding one you feel comfortable with on the day, you'll be spending a lot of time with him or her from early in the morning until the first dance and maybe longer?
Planning a wedding isn't everyones 'cup of tea' and may be stressful at times but do remember what the wedding is all about... being chosen and choosing to be with someone who you love, who loves you, for the rest of your life.
